Water Project
Nelson Contrcting (Lyons, Nebraska) is back in town to continue work on the water distributiuon lines. The isolation valves have been installed, and nine blocks of water main will be put in at Lakeport Street (200 & 300 block), Oak Street (400 block), Maple Street (300, 400, 800 block, Walnut Street (200 & 300 block), and Pine Street.
All water outages will be announced on the electronic sign board, and, if you provide your e-mail address to salixiowa@longlines.com, you will be notified of the outages by email. Please keep emergency rations of water on hand for outages as the Water Main Project continues. When water is re-pressurized, discoloration of water at the tap is very common. Pleae run the cold water tap until the water is clear.
Pleae remember that each time the water is de-pressurized (water is turned off), IDNR is advising you to boil water used for drinking and cooking, usually for a 24 hour period after the water is turned back on. The reason for this procedure is that water samples are taken after any work is completed, and the incubation period for the water tests is 24 hours.
