Building Permits
Building permits are required if changes are made to the dimension of a structure. General maintenance such as shingles, siding, paint, etc will not require a permit.
For example:
Permits are not needed for: Fences, jungle gym, above ground swimming pool.A permit is needed for:
Patio or deck, storage shed,(portable or permanent), inground swimming pool, driveway, basement, or to remove or demolish a structure. when beginning any building project, please be aware of your property lines. To help locate your lot linies, a block pin is fixed in the corner of each block (west of Highway 75). City personnel are not responsible for locating your lot lines.Also, if you are planning any excavating or digging projects, please call Iowa One Call at 1-800-292-8989 to have your utilities marked. It's the Law!
